
We accept applications from people experiencing financial hardship who are resident (permanently or temporarily), or who are employed, in Portsoken Ward.

Regular Awards - if accepted as a regular beneficiary, grant payments are made twice a year in July and December. Beneficiaries of this grant are generally retired either through age or sickness.
One-off grants are available in cases of urgent need or hardship. Debt reconciliation or the replacement of essential household items, such as cookers, washing machines or fridges will be considered. Items of furniture are considered on an exceptional basis, mainly where there is medical need. Applications for clothing will not be considered apart from school wear.
Only applicants living off a low disposable income will be considered. Priority is given to:

· The elderly;
· The chronically disabled and long-term sick of any age;
· Single parents with dependent children;
· The homeless.
